This shows the location and appearance of the watertight door separating the reciprocating and turbine engine rooms. The plan on the left is a view looking aft. I have flopped the right-hand photo of Olympic’s watertight door because it appears in the ROV video that the large bevel-gearing above the door on Titanic is on the left, as shown, not at the upper right as in the original Olympic image. The true contours of the double bottom at the point of the hull break can be seen in the plan although its cellular construction is not shown. The floor of the engine room, seen in the drawing as a horizontal line just below the door, seems to have been blown away. (Left: Ken Marschall. Right: Harland & Wolff)
